| In excellent condition, printed on a sheet with wide margins.
In a room lit by a fire to the left we see a goldsmith putting the last touches to a figurine of Caritas, the personification of charity. He strokes the statue lovingly with his left hand.
Original etching and drypoint printed in black ink on laid paper.
A strong, dark 17th / 18th century impression of Bartsch's Second state of two.
Signed and dated in the plate in the shadows lower center Rembrandt f. 1655.

Printed after the addition of the fine vertical shading to the lower beam at the right, but before this shading quickly disappears and the shading to the right of the subject's left hand becomes worn and weak.
